Tennis is a game played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players (doubles). Each player uses a strung racquet to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court.
A tennis training program has to meet the demands of an all-round physically challenging, individual sport. For a tennis player to perform at their best, I focus on giving the player just the right mix of aerobic and anaerobic endurance, explosive strength and power, speed off the mark and agility. It is also key to work on posture to keep the body balanced. This will make the racquet easy to carry thus allowing the player to concentrate on the point of attack. In fact, the amount of strength, speed, agility and flexibility conditioning a player is prepared to undertake has been linked to the standard at which they play.
